As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

You may be old enough to remember that memorable 1978 episode of the TV comedy WKRP in Cincinnati. If not, click the image below to watch the relevant scene in which a Thanksgiving promotion goes awry.

As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.

I can relate to station manager Arthur Carlson (shown on the right above). It seems our recent holiday card mailing suffered a similar fate. While most ornaments arrived intact, an unfortunate few suffered a fate similar to Carlson’s fowl.

As God is my witness, I thought the cards would survive the USPS.

To add insult to injury, we don’t have any spares to replace damaged ornaments. So please accept our holiday (and now New Year’s) wishes in the spirit in which they were intended, but perhaps not how they were delivered.

And if you’re in town for the AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting, be sure to visit us in the exhibit hall and come to our reception Wednesday night.

My favorite quote from that episode (and yes, I remember it) was “OH MY GOD, THEY’RE TURKEYS!”.
