Can you believe it’s already February? It seems only yesterday we were watching college football bowl games and attending the AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting.
As we all rush pell-mell into 2013 it’s important not to miss deadlines for the Pointwise User Group Meeting 2013 coming up on 19-20 March here in Fort Worth, Texas.
6. Early Registration Deadline = 8 February
If you register for the Pointwise UGM by this Friday, 8 February you’ll save 24% off the regular registration price. This savings alone should help you get your manager’s approval to travel.
5. Hotel Registration Deadline = 18 February
Want to save more money? Book your hotel room at the wonderful Embassy Suites Fort Worth – Downtown by 18 February to get in the special block of rooms we’ve set aside. That’s more cost-saving ammo to help get your travel budget approved.
(Plus, if you’re a fan of Thai food there’s a really good Thai restaurant just off the hotel lobby.)
4. Enough with Your Boss – What’s in It for You
Day 1 of the Pointwise UGM 2013 is chock full of training seminars on the latest version of the software. Whether you’re a fresh novice or grizzled veteran, you’ll get something out of these courses. You’ll also have a chance to meet and talk 1-on-1 with the engineers on our technical support team – it’s time to put a face to that email address.
Day 1 also features the special short course you chose with your votes – Meshing Forensics: How to Recover When Things Go Wrong. We’ve all been there. This seminar will help you get from there to a happier place.
3. Hear from CFD Experts
On Day 2 of the Pointwise UGM you’ll hear presentations from CFD experts on applications ranging from mesh adaption, to rotating machinery, to automation. You’ll be able to quiz them on how Pointwise helps their CFD process and take that knowledge back to your shop.
We’ll also be sharing our product plans and taking your feedback to ensure that we continue to deliver the tools you need for CFD mesh generation.
2. Meet our CFD Partners
Our partners in the CFD industry will be there to share with you how their products and Pointwise’s work together to help you solve real engineering problems. We’ll have two postprocessing vendors (CEI and Tecplot) and two flow solver vendors (ANSYS and Tetra Research) in close proximity – let’s see if sparks will fly. (We might also have had CD-adapco here if they hadn’t scheduled their STAR Global Conference for the same days – but that’s a different story).
They couldn’t attend but we must thank our sponsor, Metacomp Technologies, makers of the CFD++ flow solver.
1. Something Just for You – The Meshy Award, due 22 February
Last but not least, here’s an opportunity to be recognized for all that work on mesh generation. Did you ever make a mesh just for its own sake? The coveted Meshy Award recognizes people who think that way. The previous winner generated the mesh shown below. Why not prove to everyone that you’re that good? Imagine the bragging rights when you return home.
