Entrants are sought for the 3rd Flow Visualization Showcase to be held at AIAA Aviation on June 18th in Dallas. If you have a cool visualization and are presenting work at Aviation (or have presented at any AIAA conference since the last showcase in 2017) read on for the prizes you might win during this fun event.
The Flow Visualization Showcase at AIAA Aviation provides you the opportunity to share fluid dynamic visualizations with a broader audience than might attend your technical presentation. The visualization presented should be related to your presentation but may be more detailed or longer in duration than what would be appropriate to show during a technical session. The showcase is sponsored by the Fluid Dynamics, Modeling & Simulation, and Applied Aerodynamics technical committees.
Showcase on Tuesday 18 June
The Flow Visualization Event will be held during the afternoon session on Tuesday, June 18th in the foyer area outside the exhibit hall. Multiple visualizations will be shown during each of the 20 to 30 minute time slots assigned. We will be providing large monitors; you will need to provide your own computer. We recommend that your animation be approximately 3 minutes in length and be run on a loop. We ask that you be present during your time slot to provide an overview of the work and to answer any questions that may arise. Our committee will be sure to deconflict animation and technical paper presentation time slots.
Recognition and Awards
At the conclusion of the event, awards will be presented for:
- Most Artistic Flow Visualization Animation Award
- Most Quantitatively Descriptive Flow Visualization Animation Award
- Most Comprehensive Flow Visualization Animation Award
If you are one of the three winners, your visualization will be displayed on a monitor in the exhibit hall for the remaining time that the exhibition hall is open. As the three winning visualizations will be run on a continuous loop, we will need the visualization on either a thumb drive or CD/DVD for transfer to a single computer.
