Automotive Meshing Workshop in Munich

Instagram_Workshop_Automotive_2019-cropJoin Pointwise in Munich on 14 November 2019 for a workshop on mesh generation for internal and external aerodynamics of automobiles. We will demonstrate meshing for the DrivAer benchmark case and an intake manifold. The workshop is free to attend but registration is required.

Pointwise is well suited for automotive applications that demand high accuracy and the flexibility to use different mesh topologies to meet varying requirements in different parts of the flow domain. For external aerodynamics, automated unstructured grids can be used around complex geometry and structured grids can be used elsewhere for more accurate, efficient simulations. For fuel injectors, narrow passages can be automatically resolved with fewer cells (and quicker simulation time) using Pointwise’s T-Rex (anisotropic tetrahedral extrusion) technique.

Recent work in Pointwise has increasingly automated the mesh generation process so mesh generation turnaround times can be decreased as well. T-Rex automatically generates layers of regular, high aspect ratio hexahedral cells to resolve boundary layers while conforming to specified spacing, quality, and interference specifications. The end result is a high-quality mesh generated quickly in an automated process.
