Pointwise at AIAA SciTech 2021

The 2021 AIAA SciTech Forum, and expanded virtual event, begins next week and runs 11-15 January and 19-21 January. Pointwise will be well represented at the workshops and technical sessions and we invite you to join us for some mesh generation and CFD.

A Framework for Mesh-Geometry Associativity during Mesh Adaptation – Technical Paper

This technical paper, co-authored by Pointwise and NASA Langley Research Center, will be presented on 20 January at 2:30.

“A framework has been developed for describing how a computational mesh is associated to the geometry model it discretizes. The target application of this framework is surface mesh adaptation in a CFD flow solver. The framework, called MeshLink, consists of two components. First, a schema has been defined for describing the one-to-many associativity of a surface mesh to the geometry model entities to which it is attached. Second, a high-level library provides a kernel-agnostic wrapper for providing the necessary geometry queries to an application (e.g., mesher, flow solver). Both the schema and library are provided freely and openly. MeshLink’s ability to support solution mesh adaptation on linear and curved meshes for a high-order flow solution is demonstrated on several test cases relevant to the aerospace and automotive industries.”

Propulsion Aerodynamics Workshop

The 5th AIAA Propulsion Aerodynamics Workshop will be held on 09-10 January, the weekend prior to SciTech. “Organized by the AIAA Inlets, Nozzles & Propulsion Systems Integration Technical Committee: The focus of the workshop will be on assessing the accuracy of CFD in obtaining air breathing system performance and flow structure in nozzle and inlet flow fields.”

Pointwise generated meshes for this workshop and we’ll be participating and presenting.

For more details, see the workshop’s website.

Transition Modeling Prediction Workshop

The 1st AIAA CFD Transition Modeling and Prediction Workshop will held on 21-22 January, the end of the second week of SciTech. “Organized by the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Technical Committee: This workshop will assess and promote improvement to the current state-of-the-art in CFD-based transition modeling.”

Stability and Control Prediction Workshop

The 1st AIAA Stability and Control Prediction Workshop will be held on 26-27 January which is actually the week after SciTech. “Organized by the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Technical Committee: This workshop will establish best practices for the prediction of Stability and Control derivatives with RANS or DES-based CFD.”

Poinwise generated meshes for this workshop and we’ll be participating and presenting.

SciTech Registration – It’s Not Too Late

Registration for this online conference is still open, for both the technical program and the workshops.

Register for the conference on AIAA’s SciTech registration page.

See details for workshop registration at AIAA’s SciTech workshops page.
